Fitness testing can be a valuable tool when training for specific performance outcomes. The Holbrook Center offers various fitness testing and interpretation of aerobic capacity, anaerobic capacity, body composition, and metabolic rate assessments.
Body Composition
Assessment | Description | Cost |
---|---|---|
Bod Pod | $20 | |
Hydrostatic Weighing | This method is currently the gold standard of estimating body fat. It has an error range of 1-2%. Subjects are weighed underwater in a specially designed tank. During the underwater weighing procedure, subjects are required to exhale as much air as possible while being weighed underwater. Subjects must wear a bathing suit for this test. | $20 |
Skin Fold Testing | $10 | |
Bioelectrical Impedance | $10 | |
Hip/Waist Measurements | $5 | |

Lactate Threshold | This test is designed to pinpoint the lactate threshold during cycling or running. The test starts out with a warm-up and then increases quickly to a workload or speed just under your estimated lactate threshold. It is then slowly increased every 5 minutes until blood lactate levels indicate the lactate threshold. This test involves several blood samples taken from the finger. It is not considered a maximal test but does require a difficult intensity. | $40 |
Resting Metabolic Rate | $20 | |
