Admission to Majors within the College of Allied Health and Nursing

Majors within the College of Allied Health and Nursing have their own unique admission requirements, and it is important for students to understand those early in their academic careers. The admission criteria for each major is outlined in the Academic Catalog and also is reviewed during the orientation process (however students are often overwhelmed with information during this time and may not remember.) It is recommended that the admission and progression requirements for each major be reviewed during each advising session so that students can realistically track their progression toward this goal.

In general, it is important for students to be aware that most majors within our college do not admit students with less than a 2.5 GPA, although a few will allow a provisional admission depending on the circumstances. It is also important for students to know that we have a number of competitive-admission, limited-enrollment majors (Dental Hygiene, Exercise Science, Nursing, Sport Management, etc.) and numerous others where specific grades are required on pre-requisite courses prior to granting admission.
