Chris Wright

President, Minnesota Timberwolves | Lynx

In 2007, Chris Wright was named the President of the Minnesota Timberwolves | Lynx organization. As the President, Wright strongly believes in the mission statement of the organization which is to surround fans with the world-class athleticism and complete entertainment of the NBA and the WNBA. As the president, Wright is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the team as well as leading a senior management group that is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the business operations for the franchise.

Prior to joining the Minnesota Timberwolves organization, Wright was the assistant general manager for two Major League Indoor Soccer Teams; the Pittsburgh Spirit from 1981 to 1986 and the Minnesota Strikers from 1986 to1987. Shortly after, Wright spent three years working for the State of Minnesota as a consultant for bids on national and international events. One event included the planning of the $17.4 million dollar National Sports Center located in Blaine, Minnesota. Since Wright has become the President of the Minnesota Timberwolves | Lynx he has established a company-wide priority around having the best staff, believing in a fan first attitude, representing the Timberwolves brand, and being an active member of the surrounding community.

Wright was inducted into the Sport Business Hall of Fame in April 2010. He was chosen because he has made a significant impact in the field of sport business and has positively impacted the program at Minnesota State University, Mankato. The opportunities he led the Timberwolves organization to create for the university and the sport management program has provided students with critical real-world opportunities that further the sport management education in and out of the classroom. The leadership used to serve as an Executive Member on the Sport Management Advisory Board is outstanding and he is well deserving of the induction.

Chris is everything that you would hope the leader of your organization could be with his ability to not only lead but also his ability to navigate our organization through a truly challenging period of time from a business standpoint.
