Senior Practicum (SOWK 455) & Integrative Seminar (SOWK 450)

The Senior Practicum (SOWK 455) and Integrative Seminar (SOWK 450) are the capstone field experiences of the BSSW Program. Both courses are taken concurrently in the student’s final semester in the BSSW program.  All required coursework must be completed with a grade of ‘C-‘ or better before students are given permission to completed their senior practicum. This prior coursework and field experiences develop the students' competencies and professional behaviors, so that they are prepared to engage in what our accrediting body (CSWE) calls the "Signature Pedagogy" of social work education.

In SOWK 455, students complete a 440-hour of field practicum, approximately 30 hours per week for 15 weeks during either the fall or spring semesters.  In SOWK 450, students meet with an assigned faculty seminar liaison to reflect and process learning in their field practicum.  These courses are not offered during the summer months.
