OUR STUDENTS

You'll join more than 300 declared social work majors who:

  • Are from all areas of Minnesota, northern Iowa, Wisconsin, the Dakotas, and even India, Italy, Finland, Africa, and Australia;
  • Represent Hmong, Somalian, Ethiopian, Korean, Hispanic-Latino, Native American, LGBTQ, and disabilities communities;
  • Range from traditional students who have recently graduated from high school through older, non-traditional students who found a new passion later in life;
  • Engage with the profession through local and statewide organizations and participate in advocacy and volunteer activities;
  • Pass the professional licensure exam at a higher rate than the national average.

OUR ALUMNA

Our graduates are actively engaged and:

  • Serve as internship supervisors, share employment opportunities, and support scholarships;
  • Participate in local and statewide social work organizations, including Mn NASW and MSSA, run for political offices, and serve on local and statewide boards and organizations;
  • Are recognized annually by the department for their professional contributions;
  • Are often recognized by professional organizations and their employers for outstanding service to the field.

Our Faculty

You’ll learn from faculty who:

  • Are experienced social workers and represent a wide range of practice areas, and most have doctoral degrees and are licensed social workers;
  • Commit themselves to community service through local agencies and national organizations;
  • Serve on non-profit advisory boards, state and national licensure boards, school boards, and statewide commissions;
  • Engage in practice organizations such as NASW and MSSA and academic organizations such as MCSWE, BOD, and CSWE;
  • Present at professional conferences across the United States and internationally in England, Finland, Netherlands, South Africa, Japan, Kuwait, and more;
  • Publish text books and articles in professional journals;
  • Receive research, training, and program development grants and contracts.
