About the Institute

The TaylorsIn 2008, Glen '62 and Becky Taylor pledged $7 million to Minnesota State Mankato's School of Nursing to be used to establish the Glen Taylor Nursing Institute for Family and Society, create an endowed faculty chair and provide doctoral fellowships in nursing. "Nurses have always played a critical role in the health-care system, and in the future they will be more important than ever to the well-being of families," said Glen and Becky Taylor. "We know that the new endowed chair, the Nursing Institute and the doctoral fellowships at Minnesota State Mankato will create models that will help nurses better serve all families." The generous gift from the Taylors was one of several that they have made to Minnesota State Mankato; their support also helped fund the Taylor Center, food science laboratories and scholarships for students displaced by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Taylor is the chairman of Mankato-based Taylor Corporation.

The Institute, chair position and fellowships, active beginning in 2010, are made possible by a $7 million pledge from Glen and Becky Taylor. Glen Taylor is the chairman of Mankato-based Taylor Corporation and is a Minnesota State Mankato alumnus.

The Taylors are committed to enhancing family health care and they recognize that nurses are more important now than ever to families’ well being.

The mission of The Glen Taylor Nursing Institute for Family and Society is to focus on innovative nursing practice knowledge that influences the health and healing of families and society at local, state, national and international  levels, and to provide leadership and expertise in family and society health related issues.
