Graduate Program Advising

Advising Requirements for BSN to DNP Students

Who Is My Advisor?

You will learn of your assigned advisor for the program during the BSN to DNP orientation. In the meantime, please contact graduatenursing@mnsu.edu

Advising Requirements for BSN to DNP Students or Post Masters to DNP Students

Students already enrolled in the BSN to DNP or Post Masters to DNP program are encouraged to contact their advisor directly with any questions. Information related to courses, registration and drops and academic standing are typical reasons students connect with their advisor. Most advising can be handled via e-mail. However, students may schedule a phone or face-to-face appointment with their assigned academic advisor. The best way to set this up is to email your advisor directly.

Prospective Students:

Prospective students may meet with a nursing faculty or program coordinator in person after making an appointment; please email graduatenursing@mnsu.edu. We also have Information Sessions each fall addressing how to seek admission to the BSN to DNP Primary Care Family Nurse Practitioner program.

Meeting in person with your MSU-Mankato Advisor

Before your phone or in-person meeting:

  1. Have a list of questions prepared to ask your advisor.
  2. Familiarize yourself with your program information, and your current progress in your program.
  3. If you have not viewed your degree plan, check this out prior to the meeting!
