  • Students will gain understanding in how the society and system in which they live impacts a family crisis.
  • Having a deeper personal understanding of the experience of crisis can lead to more empathy and compassion with patients and families in one's professional practice.

  • Increase student's cultural competence within their society by considering the perspective of others they encounter.
  • Increase student's understanding of their own health and social system, and by examining and explaining their own lived experience, students are challenged to look at their system through the lens of others.
  • Using a digital platform ensures all students are provided an opportunity to increase global citizenship, reducing barriers arising in study abroad programs.
  • Assignments can be customized to fit individual course objectives and faculty only grade their own student's work.
