Module 4
Module 4 contains five separate Sections.
This module examines ethical and legal practices aligned with serious illness and end-of-life care. Nurses’ ethical and legal responsibilities are considered. Ideas and practices linked with advance directives will be examined. Presence of family during critical procedures such as DNR are explored.
Module 4 Objectives:
- Increased awareness of ethical questions that might arise at the end-of-life care.
- Discuss appropriate measures for clinical practice when faced with ethical dilemmas.
- Identify and apply guiding principles of advanced directives.
- Understand the policies, procedures, and legal practices aligned with end-of-life at place of employment.
- Provide nursing care that is ethically and legally sound when addressing serious illness and end-of-life.
