HeartCode® BLS - Online Theory & Skills Test Out

HeartCode® Basic Life Saving (BLS) is for healthcare professionals seeking an alternative method for completing an initial or renewal BLS course. This is a blended course (online theory with skills test out) and available in Mankato or Edina, Minnesota.

This course provides the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest using new 2015 science. BLS teaches the concepts of high-quality CPR, improvement of chest compression fraction, and high-performing team dynamics. This course is for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings. Minnesota State University, Mankato's BLS course is offered with Laedal's The Little Family Pack, age-specific and cutting edge CPR training manikins.

Course Covers: 

  • New science and education from the 2015 AHA Guidelines
  • Components of high quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
  • AHA Chain of Survival for prehospital and in-facility providers
  • Importance of early use of an AED
  • Effective ventilations using a barrier device
  • Importance of teams in multirescuer resusitation and performance as an effective team member during multisrescuer CPR
  • Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants

Heartsaver® BLS - CPR/First Aid/AED

This course provides the four key steps in first aid for children and infants: prevent, protect, asses, and act. You will learn how to recognize and help someone with difficulty breathing, choking, severe bleeding, and shock. This course teaches you how to use an Epinephrine pen, commonly used for allergic reactions. This Heartsaver® course teaches how to recognize someone who needs CPR and how to use an AED on both an adult and child. Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Heartsaver® Course is offered with Laerdal’s The Little Family Pack, age-specific and cutting edge CPR training manikins.

Course Covers:

  • New science and education from the 2015AHA Guidelines
  • Components of high-quality CPR for adults,children, and infants
  • Importance of early use of an AED
  • Relief of choking for adults, child and infants
  • Recognition of common injuries and illnesses
  • How to control bleeding with bandaging
  • Prevention of illness and injury

This session is by appointment only. $179 per person. Skills Test-Out will be scheduled at your convenience and can be done in your home.
