Alice Westbrook Mulford

mulford.jpgThe late Alice Westbrook Mulford, formerly of Bridgeton. She was the first woman to host a radio show on local station WSNJ and was best known for her work with speech therapy for children. She taught elocution and provided vocal training to countless youngsters, some through the theatrical productions for children that she produced and directed. She created The Children's Theater Workshop and encouraged children to acquire a love for theater. Even after she closed her speech and drama school when she was about 80, she continued remedial speech work with younger children, helping them overcome difficulties stuttering and lisping. She died in 2001.
