Module 3
Module 3 contains seven separate Sections.
This module explores various ways coordinated care might be provided for those diagnosed with a serious illness and/or facing the end-of-life. The hospice concept and services aligned with hospice programs are explained. The concepts of loss and bereavement are explored. Nurse roles as a compassionate caregiver are considered.
Module 3 Objectives:
- Provide appropriate nursing care regardless of care settings (i.e., household, nursing home, hospital, respite).
- Address cultural needs when faced with serious illness and changing end-of-life care needs.
- Assess spiritual/faith needs of dying persons and those close to them
- Describe hospice care as an appropriate care form at the end-of-life.
- Provide compassionate care when facing loss and the end-of-life.
- Manage various forms of loss and ways bereavement that occur across time.
