Module 2
Module 2 contains five separate Sections.
This module provides explicit information related to changes experienced as persons and those close to them face serious illness or experience end-of-life care needs. Symptomatic support and comfort care for holistic care needs are addressed. Challenging and sometimes complex situations sometimes faced at the end-of-life are explored. Nurses’ roles in providing culturally sensitive care to provide patient and family engaged care are described.
Module 2 Learning Objectives:
- Gain knowledge and skills associated with the changing personal care needs as the end-of-life draws near.
- Recognize ways to manage physical symptoms and treatment responses for those nearing the end-of-life.
- Use a variety of care forms and supports for dying patients, grieving family members, and other close persons.
- Provide patient and family engaged care that is culturally sensitive care when managing serious illness and end-of-life care.
- Exhibit confidence and knowledge in providing family-focused nursing actions and education when a member has a serious illness and nears the end-of-life.
