About Family Consumer Science

Family Consumer Science (FCS) trains students to promote the well-being of individuals and families through bachelor’s degrees in the following majors:

  • Dietetics
    Nationally recognized and accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, this program provides the academic training required to become a registered dietitian nutritionist.
  • Child Development and Family Studies (CDFS)
    Approved by the National Council of Family Relations, this program allows our graduates to become certified family life educators.
  • Family Consumer Science Education
    Approved by the Minnesota Department of Education, this program allows our graduates to apply for licensure to teach Family Consumer Science in grades 5-12.
