Advising and Student Handbook

Student - Faculty Advisory Assignment

  • Declaration of major can be done through the “major button”. It is recommended all students meet with a college advisor and/or an academic advisor prior to declaring the major.

  • Are you new to MSU-Mankato? All first year Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) students are assigned to the College of Allied Health Advising Team. The advising team works with first-year, transfer and current students. Explore Mav Plans, advising links, scholarships, and other advising resources on the College of Allied Health and Nursing Advising page

  • If you are a transfer student or recently declared the CSD major, please email SHRS Department Chair to schedule an initial advising meeting. Second year and beyond students who declared CSD major are assigned to SHRS Department Chair and confirm an CSD advisor after the initial advising meeting. All American Sign Language Certificate students are assigned to the ASL Coordinator.

  • All students seeking advising for CSD or having questions about course registration should contact SHRS Department Administrative Assistant.

  • Permission to register for 400 level courses is granted by the SHRS Department upon completion of the courses of CDIS 312, CDIS 322, CDIS 392 and CDIS 394 with a 3.0 grade point average. If this minimum is not met, student should discuss with a CSD advisor. Students who meet the requirements contact Department Administrative Assistant for upper-level course permissions.
