What Are the General Education Requirements?

All academic institutions awarding Baccalaureate degrees require some General Education. General education coursework is designed to help identify and understand issues that arise in areas outside of the specified major. Additionally, general education courses encourage sound writing and speaking skills, develop critical thinking, and value the culture, knowledge, history, and views of other people and communities.

At Minnesota State Mankato, students with an accepted AS/AAS degree are required to complete 40 credits of General Education; 44 credits without (you have likely completed some of these already). If you have completed an Associate of Arts degree, or the MN Transfer Curriculum, you won't need any additional courses.
