The Student Nurses Association (SNA) received the Exemplary Service Award during the annual Recognized Student Organization (RSO) Leadership Awards.

The Award was presented to members for their respect, caring and compassion on the Minnesota State University campus and surrounding communities. SNA has been involved on campus at RSO events, fundraising opportunities and volunteer events. In the community, SNA members have volunteered with organizations such as the Red Cross, Relay for Life, Mankato Marathon, ECHO Food Shelf, Salvation Army, Special Olympics, Camp Sweet Life, Alzheimer's Walk, the Children's Museum of Southern Minnesota and many more.

Katelyn Boucher, the Volunteer Coordinator of the SNA, received the Outstanding Campus Volunteer Award. Katelyn was instrumental in discovering new opportunities for the organization as well as maintaining current volunteer commitments. Katelyn demonstrated patience and respect for all the members of SNA by remaining positive, fun, flexible and willing to work on many different projects.

SNA is a student-led organization consisting of pre-nursing, and nursing students. The group is a chapter of the National Student Nurses Organization, which is designed to help contribute to nursing education, influence health care through legislative activities and encourage community activities that improve health care and foster relationships. The members meet every month for learning community meetings and are attended by 80-120 members.
