Sport Management is a business degree with a focus on managing sport, exercise and fitness. It is the business side of sport and the Sport Management Master's degree prepares students to work in the exciting and dynamic world of sport business! The Sport Management industry is constantly growing and changing and we prepare students to plan and manage sport experiences in a variety of private, public, and commercial setting such as professional sport teams, college sport athletic departments, sport facilities/arenas, health and fitness organizations, sport tourism and many others!

We have a strong tradition of academic excellence and is recognized as one of the nation's leading Sport Management Programs. Affordability. All Master’s programs at Minnesota State University Mankato offer in-state tuition rates!! This is an incredible savings to you and we do this to provide access for all to a high quality education. Also, many of our graduate students receive graduate assistantships where they obtain a tuition waiver and a monthly living stipend for their 20 hours of work per week.

Our program emphasizes hand's on learning and getting real world experience! Getting a job in this industry is all about obtaining as much experience as possible prior to graduation. We build your experiences not just through internships, but through developing real events, working with real sport businesses to develop a comprehensive sport marketing plan, service learning opportunities in sport and getting out into the field. Through these experiences students receive professional preparation that develops them into competitive sport business leaders.
We have worked to incorporate a number of High Impact Practices within our curriculum, which are teaching and learning practices that have been widely tested to benefit college students the most. These High Impact Practices are particularly important as they are active learning practices that contribute to students learning. Examples include common intellectual experiences, collaborative assignments, ePortfolios, service learning, diversity/global learning, internships and opportunities for research.
