Course Format

The MSW program is a full-time program that has been designed with busy adult learners in mind. We do find high value in learning together in-person with your cohort, so all of your required coursework will require you to spend time on campus. All required classes are offered in a blended course delivery (approximately 60% in-person on-campus and 40% online). Delivery of elective courses varies depending upon the course and availability of the instructor. There is no online-only nor part-time option for students in the MSW program at this time. Class sizes are generally capped at 20.

What to Expect

As a student in the MSW program, you should be prepared to be on campus for approximately 60% of your class sessions. Times that students will be on-campus is coordinated amongst professors each semester. MSW courses are offered on Fridays and Saturdays. Classes on Fridays may begin as early as 9:00 a.m. and end as late as 8:00 p.m.; Saturdays may begin as early as 9:00 a.m. and end as late as 4:00 p.m.  Any classes delivered outside of these parameters will be done in consultation with current MSW students.

Students find that the rigor and time commitment make it challenging to work full-time while completing the MSW program, particularly during the spring and summer terms of field practicum.  However, with advanced planning, support from your family and friends, and flexibility from your employer, students working full-time can complete the program.
