What Our Alumni Say

Meet some of our Physical Education and Developmental Adapted Physical Education (DAPE) alumni:

Haley Schaff posing by a wall holding her Minnesota State University Mankato diploma"I highly recommend this program because you get a lot of hands on experience. What you learn is useful in every class you will teach. The time I have spent with students who have disabilities has broadened my horizons and made me a better educator. I officially signed a contract and will be teaching high school health and physical education and coaching volleyball!"
- Haley Schaff, 2020 graduate

Sam Anderson in gymnasium “The faculty and the program prepared me for my career by giving me so many experiences. Every semester there was some sort of experience that I had to apply my learning to actual teaching. The professors allowed me to bounce ideas off them and really celebrated success in teaching PE.”
- Sam Anderson, Stillwater Area Public Schools

Madisyn Komarek posing next to a wall holding her Minnesota State University Mankato diploma"I would recommend the PE-DAPE program at Minnesota State University, Mankato. They make sure you are fully educated in not just DAPE, but special education programming which has been very helpful going into my first year of teaching. When I tell my colleagues I graduated from Minnesota State Mankato they know I received a top of the line educational experience. My favorite opportunity I had as a PE-DAPE student was the summer DAPE camp that was put together. We taught students from a variety of age groups and disability categories. We worked on their swimming skills as well as other foundational gross motor skills. It was a blast!"
