Continuing Education

Students wishing to work in healthcare administration mostly require additional education, with experience.

Advanced Education

Following successful completion of the AHS degree, students are positioned to go directly into the career field within the health education/public health field. The majority of positions within healthcare administration, health administration, and/or health policy require advanced education. The majority of these positions require a Master’s degree only. Master's degrees could be in MS, MPH, MHA, or MBA that have a focus in one of these areas. Certifications in Healthcare Management are also available at some institutions.

Some Pre-HCA students may look to continue their education another area of health and apply for schools that have programs titled Public Health, Global Health, or Health Education & Promotion. While a variety of MS/MA/MEd degrees are available in these areas, many students look directly at MPH or MSPH programs.

These are not exhaustive lists, please see your advisor for additional ideas and visit the main AHS page for additional details.
