The Applied Health Science major is the only one of its kind in the Minnesota State University System. Students choose a path to support careers and/or seek further training in health education and promotion or another allied health profession. All students completing the major will be health educators and eligible for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®) credential. This major offers four career track options: Health Education and Promotion, Public Health, Occupational Therapy Preparation, and Healthcare Administration Preparation.

Career Information

Career opportunities may include working in patient education, community or worksite health promotion, public health agencies, health organizations, insurance companies, businesses or healthcare settings.

Further Education

All students graduating from the Applied Health Science major are qualified to apply to graduate programs in many fields but specifically those related to health education, health promotion, and public health.

Internships

Upon successful completion of the Applied Health Science core coursework, all students have the opportunity to enroll in an internship from (1-9 credits, 50 hours per credit hour).
