Navigating Chaos and Creating Resilience: Responding to Mass Casualties at the Boston Marathon

Please join the Athletic Training program and the Center for Rural Behavioral Health for a discussion around the domestic terrorist bombing at the Boston Marathon, which claimed the lives of three people and injured hundreds more. We'll take a look back at the event -- but also look forward -- and share insights about how current and future health care providers can navigate chaos and create resilience.

Ray Castle headshotDr. Ray Castle, PhD, LAT, ATC, NREMT

Dr. Ray Castle, an Athletic Trainer and health care provider was at the Boston Marathon the day of the attack and personally treated victims of this deadly assault. Castle's clinical practice background includes experience at the high school, college and international levels, large-scale medical coverage, and coordination and emergency medicine. Castle is nationally known and recognized for his skills and contributions to advancing the athletic training profession and advocacy for sports health.

Katie specializes in treating trauma among first responders and health care professionals. She will share her knowledge around how to best care for others as well as oneself in emergency health care.
