Rec N’ Read is an after-school recreation and literacy program to help struggling readers in grades K-5 improve their reading and writing skills while having fun and playing games.
Rec N' Read provides 1:1 literacy intervention in a group setting. Sessions include 30 minutes of recreation and 60 minutes of literacy intervention. Children work together as a group, but are assigned one university student to implement individualized intervention.
Camp Maverick: Rec N' Read is a summer camp to help struggling readers in grades K-5 improve their reading and writing skills while having fun and playing games.
Camp Maverick provides small group literacy intervention and thematic recreation activities. Three hours of literacy intervention provided throughout the day, including word work, comprehension and decoding strategies and writing activities.

During the academic year, we offer after-school literacy and recreation programs.
Children who will soon complete grades K-5 and have reading and/or writing difficulties are invited to Camp Maverick, our summer Rec N' Read program.
