For Youth:
- Camp Maverick - Camp Maverick ā Rec Nā Read is a recreation and literacy intervention camp designed to help struggling readers improve reading and writing skills while having fun and playing games. We will have lots of games and activities designed to help us make the most of summer with Camp activities going on across campus in the library, computer and art labs, rock climbing, swimming, theater, and more! Children who have completed grades Kindergarten through 5th are welcome.
- Language & Literacy Diagnostic Clinic - Is your child having difficulty with language, reading, writing or spelling? Is your child having difficulty keeping up with academics? Are you interested in learning more about your child's learning difficulties and differences? Please join us for a 2-hour assessment/consultation with experts in the field of language development, dyslexia and other learning difficulties.
- Rec N' Read Sessions - Rec N' Read are 90 minute recreation and literacy intervention sessions for children 1st through 6th grade. Children will participate in 30 minutes of theme-based recreation activities and 60 minutes of 1:1 literacy intervention with a trained college student.
For Professionals:
- Camp Maverick Professional Development - Camp Maverick: Literacy Practices in Action
This professional development will provide an introduction to reading and writing foundations, development, assessment and intervention for Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, School Psychologists, Educators and other related professionals who work with children and adolescents with disabilities and/or children who struggle to learn to read and write. Foundational knowledge of literacy and development of school-age language and literacy will be addressed as well as comprehensive clinical assessment, informal assessment evidence-based intervention for language and literacy.
- Improv for Social Learning This course provides a comprehensive overview in using applied improvisation to teach social-communication competencies to youth with autism spectrum disorders for Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and included evidence-based practice and inter-professional practice opportunities.
