Eric Meittunen and Vets in Class
Eric Meittunen, Deputy Commissioner of Healthcare at the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs along with Veterans Oather and Gordy spoke to our 4th semester nursing students about their lived experience serving in wars, returning to a hostile environment in the US and their life as veterans. Their message to students who will deal with people who have survived traumatic experiences is to take time to listen and to thank those who have served. Simple acts can make a tremendous impact. We are fortunate to have partners who are willing to openly share their lived experience and influence the future practice of our nursing students.
