I moved to Minnesota from Clemson, SC where I spent 4 years as a Lecturer in the Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management Department (PRTM). Prior to this I was the Program Director for the City of Clemson Parks and Recreation Department for 5 years, while also serving as an Adjunct Faculty member in PRTM 4 of those years. I began my career in recreation with the Richland County Recreation Commission beginning as a Park Manager at Trenholm Park in Columbia, SC. I was later named Special Events Coordinator for the commission working on large scale county-wide events before moving to Clemson. As the Program Director for the City of Clemson P&R department, I worked to enhance existing and build new programs for the Clemson community including community special events, youth & senior programs, and national sport tourism events. The City of Clemson is also where I began building a partnership with Clemson’s PRTM department to create hands on learning experiences for students through real life programming opportunities that eventually led me to a full time faculty position in the department. In 2014, I received the Distinguished Service Award presented to a Clemson University faculty member who has made outstanding contributions to the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management. In 2015, I was also named Employee of the Year by the City of Clemson.
Additionally, I have served multiple terms on the South Carolina Recreation and Park Associations Board of Directors as the Western District Vice President and Student Branch Chair focusing on opportunities for students to develop, network with professionals, and become more involved in the association. In 2012, I was named to the South Carolina Recreation and Park Association’s Leadership Enhancement and Development Institute. A program committed to the development of individuals recognized as future leaders in our industry.
