Program Options

The MSW program has two options: the Traditional 2-Year (TY) Program and the Advanced Standing (AS) Program. Each has a different start term and set of admission requirements.

Traditional 2-Year (TR) Program

This program is the only option for students who do not hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited social work program. It follows a traditional 2-year timeline with 59 credits required for completion, and it begins in the fall semester.

Advanced Standing (AS) Program

This program is an accelerated pathway for students who already hold a bachelor’s degree in social work from a CSWE accredited program. This program requires completion of 34 credits over 4 semesters, and it begins in mid-May of each year.

Note: Some people who already hold a bachelor’s degree in social work, especially if the degree was obtained several years ago, may wish to apply into the Traditional 2-year program.
