MSW Child Welfare Program Eligibility Requirements and Application
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Child Welfare Program, you must meet the following requirements:
- Commitment to Child Welfare: Demonstrated ability to be educated and employed in the public child welfare field, including past experience in child welfare in child protection; experience in agencies that focus on adoptions, foster care, and contracted agencies and agencies/organizations working with vulnerable/at-risk children; and/or volunteer experience that demonstrates commitment to practice in child welfare.
- Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Demonstrated competency in culturally-sensitive practice with ethnic minorities, diverse communities, underserved populations, and people not of your own racial, ethnic, or cultural identification.
- Citizenship: United States citizenship or permanent resident status.
- MSW Student: Current MSW student in good academic standing (see Minnesota State Mankato Department of Social Work Handbook for more information).

Application
Only students who are accepted into the MSW Program at Minnesota State Mankato are eligible to apply for the CWP. BSSW students receive information regarding the application process, application materials, and due dates each fall and spring semester. Your completed application will be reviewed by Child Welfare Program faculty, and you will be notified of the decision in writing approximately 4 weeks after the application deadline.
