RPLS Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship - $2000

Applicants must:

  • Be an admitted Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services (RPLS) student
  • Have completed a minimum of 12 credits in RPLS
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Be from an underrepresented group (being from a diverse background, including racial and ethnic backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented in higher education, or other underrepresented groups including: LGBTQ+, having a disability, military status, single parent, first generation college student or considered non-traditional)

Joanne Ardolf Decker Scholarship - $2000

Applicants must:

  • Be admitted to the Recreation, Park and Leisure Services (RPLS) major in any of the emphasis areas with at least 12 RPLS credits completed
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Have at least *one* of the following: significant, relevant community service, RPLS professional experience, service to the RPLS department or service to the Minnesota Recreation and Park Association
  • Must be an enrolled RPLS student in Fall 2021

Esco Obermann Tuition Scholarship - $2000

Applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in the Therapeutic Recreation program
  • Demonstrate financial need

Minnesota Recreation and Park Foundation (MRPF) Student Scholarship

This scholarship was created to provide financial assistance to juniors, seniors and graduate students who are majoring in a Minnesota four-year curriculum with a park and recreation emphasis. Permanent residents of Minnesota, attending a college or university in a neighboring state (majoring in parks and recreation) are also eligible to apply.  Up to three $2,000 scholarships are awarded each year. 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Eligible Students must be a junior, senior or graduate student.
  • Eligible Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.8 overall and 3.0 major.
  • Eligible Students must be enrolled in a program with a parks and recreation emphasis. Programs can include, but are not limited to: Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation and Tourism, Leisure Planning and Management Recreation Park and Leisure Studies, Recreation Resource Management

Barry Bernstein Memorial Diversity Scholarship

The Minnesota Recreation and Park Foundation is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in its membership and scholarship offerings.  This scholarship is designed to help the parks and recreation industry better represent the diverse population in Minnesota. This scholarship will award funding to students who have been traditionally underrepresented in the field of Parks and Recreation, especially Hispanic, Native American, Black/African American, or LBGTQIA+  students.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Eligible Students must be a junior, senior or graduate student.
  • Eligible Students must be a member of an underrepresented or marginalized group (including but not limited to underrepresented racial populations, LGBTQIA+, individuals with disabilities, etc.)
  • Eligible Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.8 overall and 3.0 major.
  • Eligible Students must be enrolled in a program with a parks and recreation emphasis. Programs can include, but are not limited to: Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation and Tourism, Leisure Planning and Management Recreation Park and Leisure Studies, Recreation Resource Management

MRPF Professional Graduate Degree Scholarship

The MRPF Professional Scholarship provides financial assistance to MRPF professional members pursuing a graduate degree. Applicants must display excellence in leadership, job experience and commitment to the park and recreation field. This scholarship provides up $2,000.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Eligible recipients must work full time in the parks and recreation field and be enrolled or planning to enroll in a graduate degree program.
  • Eligible recipients must have a minimum GPA of 2.8 overall.
  • Eligible recipients must be enrolled in a program with a parks and recreation emphasis. Programs can include, but are not limited to: Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation and Tourism, Leisure Planning and Management Recreation Park and
    Leisure Studies, Recreation Resource Management, Sports Management, Public Administration

Southern Minnesota Recreation and Parks Association (SMRPA) - $1500

  • Applicants must be enrolled as full-time students at either Minnesota State University, Mankato or Winona State University
  • Applicants must be declared a Recreation, Parks and /or Leisure studies Major with either Junior or Senior status.
  • Demonstrate a minimum GPA of 2.50 within the major
  • Applicants must Have successfully completed a minimum of 12 credits of course work within the RPLS, TRRT or similar prefix
  • Documented evidence of work or volunteering in recreation or related field and/or within your University department
  • Personal essay, 400-500 words stating your future goals in the profession and how your experience s to date have shaped you to achieve those goals
