Teaching Focus:

Dr. Selland teaches a broad spectrum of courses as they relate to the scientific understanding of exercise physiology and the impact exercise, physical activity, sedentary behavior, and nutrition have on human health. Furthermore, his courses focus on following an evidence-based approach to conduct exercise assessment and prescriptions. Dr. Selland designs assignments to blend the scientific foundations of exercise science with broad application components to prepare students to interact with individuals and small groups in a variety of professional settings.

Research Focus:

Dr. Selland’s research interests revolve around the promotion and evaluation of physical fitness, physical activity, and sedentary behavior in the youth population and throughout the life cycle.
