Admissions into the Alcohol and Drug Studies Program
Admission Requirements for the Alcohol and Drug Studies (ADS) Program
Students must first be accepted for admission to Minnesota State University, Mankato. If you are not yet admitted to the University, contact the Admissions Office. This is a separate process from admission to the ADS program.
Due to the nature of the helping field, it is critical to send appropriate people into the field. Students interested in completing any of the Alcohol and Drug Studies Program options that involve an internship will be required to complete a comprehensive application and screening process. The application packet can be found in the Alcohol and Drug Studies Student Handbook.
All students who wish to participate in the internship process, must demonstrate that they have been free of chemical problems for at least two years prior to beginning their internship process.
While it is not an admission requirement, it is important to note that certain legal charges may limit a student's ability to practice in the field. Students who have a history of legal charges are encouraged to research the potential impact of the charges on their ability to practice in the field.
