Self-Care as an Ethical Responsibility

Friday, December 16, 2022
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
EDINA, MN (Dec. 8) / EDINA, MN (Dec. 9) / Online (Dec. 16)

Join the Center for Rural Behavioral Health and Dr. Jennifer Londgren as they lead an important conversation on the importance of self-care for healthcare professionals.

Healthcare professionals face several challenges and stressors that place them at risk for experiencing distress, burnout, vicarious traumatization, and eventually impaired professional competence. As a result, self-care efforts are needed to effectively manage these challenges and demands. Failure to do so may result in harm to themselves, their patients, and the healthcare profession.

This engaging presentation will discuss the link between self-care and professional competence and ethical behavior. Participants will explore an innovative way to view self-care and strategies to implement a self-care plan that works for you. The training will review patterns of ethical violations and how self-care is an important prevention strategy. Discussion, note-taking, intention setting, and self-care planning are encouraged!
