The Department of Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services at Minnesota State University has offered a bachelor of science degree since 1967. As a major in the department, you have three different areas of study to choose from:
You would take 39 credits of courses in the Professional Core Classes and the remaining 18 credits in the specific Career Tracks. The classes are structured to offer you both the knowledge and the skill to assume a mid–management level position upon graduation. Classes often allow you opportunities to become actively involved in your chosen career through participation in volunteer experiences, planning of special projects such as special events and fund–raisers, and attendance at state and national conferences and workshops.
You will be assigned a faculty advisor who will help you select the appropriate classes and locate appropriate volunteer and work experiences. Your advisor will be available to you throughout the semester for advising and planning sessions.
The Department of Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services is nationally accredited by the NRPA/AALR National Council on Accreditation.
