The senior capstone experience (practicum) requires you to complete a 14 consecutive week (560 hours) fieldwork experience that allows you to make the adjustment from the classroom to the professional world. This “practicum” is usually scheduled after you have completed all of your course work including Field Experience, earned a 2.5 GPA in the major and received at least a “C” grade in each RPLS course. The practicum is set up with the assistance of your faculty advisor.

Montana State Parks

Camp Maverick: Rec N' Read Lead Camp Director

Camp Maverick Director is primary responsible for: leading efforst in developing schedule of activities; manage and oversee day-to-day operations of the camp; develop and implement staff trainings in collaboration/coordination with literacy and rec director; maintain and oversee all participant files in collaboration with literacy and rec director; responsible for purchasing of food and materials; be on stie before/during camp operations; work collaboratively with the recreation and lilteracy camp director; serve as the primary contact for parents; maintain a facebook page or webstie for updates on camp activities; soical media; daily communication with program directors; oversee data collection and entry for analysis; engage in inventory management and control of supplies and materials.  If interested send resume and over letter to Brooke Burk no later than December 1st.  Practicum will begin on April 8, 2019 and conclude July 12th.  

Anthony Ford Pond Hockey Classic Internship

Conservation Corps, St. Paul MN

Our organization offers full-time, temporary AmericCorps positions for young people ages 18-25, all centered around environmental conservation.  Our programs are a great way for members to get a foot in the door with government and nonprofit agenices!  Members receive on-the-job training in natural resource management, environmental education and outdoors skills, then go on to put those skills into practice on natural resource projects across the Midwest. Mankato Community Education and Recreation

A position as a Community Education and Recreation Intern is available beginning January and August annually and ending Fall and Spring academic term annually.  This assignment is for 8 hours per day/5 days per week for a total of 560 hours.  Summary of Duties include - Assisting with an individual Connections site's program development, delivery and administration; Engaging in the set up and supervision of Adult Recreation pickleball program or other programming; Completing parent participation surveys for Connecting Kids, compiling data, updating website, and visiting sites.  Please complete online application found at

Student Conservation Corps (SCA)

Nonprofit organization that engage high school, undergraduate and graduate school students through internships, conservation jobs, and crew experiences to conduct resource management, historic preservation, cultural resources and conservation programs for the purpose of training, career development and education.  SCA places volunteers in more than 350 park units and NPS offices each year.  Wide range of positions with specific expertise requirements.  3-to-12 month internship opportunities.
