The senior capstone experience (practicum) requires you to complete a 14 consecutive week (560 hours) fieldwork experience that allows you to make the adjustment from the classroom to the professional world. This “practicum” is usually scheduled after you have completed all of your course work including Field Experience, earned a 2.5 GPA in the major and received at least a “C” grade in each RPLS course. The practicum is set up with the assistance of your faculty advisor.

Conservation Corps, St. Paul MN

Our organization offers full-time, temporary AmericCorps positions for young people ages 18-25, all centered around environmental conservation.  Our programs are a great way for members to get a foot in the door with government and nonprofit agenices!  Members receive on-the-job training in natural resource management, environmental education and outdoors skills, then go on to put those skills into practice on natural resource projects across the Midwest. All our AmeriCorps members receive the following benefits:

FOCP Program Intern Position, Mankato MN

Feeding our Communities Partners Backpack Food Program is seeking to provide an intern the opportunity to learn common business practices and program management skills.  The intern will interact with many levels of management and other interns, board members, various committee members and volunteers.  The intern will be expected to follow the developed schedule once agreed upon and be dependable.  Duties include, but are not limited to: assist the Coordinator with the Packing sessions for all programs; conduct preparation for the packing sessions; serve as a back-up for load and devliery and/or distribution; responsible for the delivery of futures food packs; responsible for the delivery of middle school snack pakcs; school sweeps for flyer distribution, surveys, tote pick-up; assist with in-house inventory; maintain the WH and assembly areas; maintain the extra bag inventory and unpacking of returned bags; maintenance of all menus; run program related errands.  Contact Rachel Carpenter at for questions or if interested.

Anoka County Parks and Recreation

Anoka County Parks is looking to fill a Seasonal Park Services Intern.  The Seasonal Park Services Intern position's goal is to provide a future professional an oppotrunity to experience the administration and management of a natural resources based park system's seasonal operations.  The position provides support for the Parks Department and peforms duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Park Services Coordinator.  The position requires 12-week minimum commitment to begin in April or May.  Posting will open in early January and can be viewed here:

Mankato Community Education and Recreation

Student Conservation Corps (SCA)

Nonprofit organization that engage high school, undergraduate and graduate school students through internships, conservation jobs, and crew experiences to conduct resource management, historic preservation, cultural resources and conservation programs for the purpose of training, career development and education.  SCA places volunteers in more than 350 park units and NPS offices each year.  Wide range of positions with specific expertise requirements.  3-to-12 month internship opportunities.
