Gerald SchneckGerald Schneck currently serves as tenured Professor of Rehabilitation Counseling at Minnesota State University, Mankato, where he has served since Fall 1982. He has been a rehabilitation educator for over 35 years, having previously served on the faculties of the University of Wisconsin–Stout and the University of Minnesota.

Gerry received his Ph.D. in Vocational Special Needs Education from the University of Minnesota in 1980. Prior education includes a Master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation/Vocational Evaluation from the University of Wisconsin–Stout, and a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology /Manufacturing Engineering from Stout State University.

Dr. Schneck has worked in various capacities within industry, rehabilitation and educational settings, including serving as an industrial engineer, a consultant to industry and rehabilitation agencies, as staff trainer, and as vocational evaluator and counselor supervisor.

He continues to provide consultation services in ergonomic and assistive technology assessment, chemical dependency counseling, forensic expert testimony, and grant writing.

Dr. Schneck is currently a member of the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP)(since 2007) - Forensic Section and the American Rehabilitation Economics Association (AREA)(since 1995). He has served as a member of the IARP Occupational Database Committee (IODC) which issued its report in The Rehab Pro journal in July, 2009, and this information was also provided to the Social Security Administration for their use in devising a new database to replace the Dictionary of Occupational Titles (D.O.T.) in the disability determination process. In July 2009, Dr. Schneck was elected to serve a 2-year term as Vice President of External Affairs (Membership/Newsletter & Journals) for AREA.

He is a Past–President of the Minnesota Rehabilitation Association and member of the MRA Board of Directors, having served as Treasurer (2-year term) and on the local planning committee for the National Rehabilitation Association Annual Conference, which was held in Minneapolis in 1988). He previously served as President of the Wisconsin Vocational Evaluation and Work Adjustment Association (WVEWAA) and as a member of the Wisconsin Rehabilitation Association (WRA) Board of Directors, as well as the William F. Faulkes Rehabilitation Foundation Board.

Dr. Schneck has been a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC)(CRCC–Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification) since 1978. In the years since, he has also achieved national credentialing as a National Certified Counselor (NCC)(NBCC–National Board of Counselor Certification)(1988-2009), as a Certified Earnings Analyst (CEA)(1996-2006) and as a Registered Forensic Vocational Expert (FVE)(AREA–American Rehabilitation Economics Association)(1995 to Present).

Dr. Schneck currently has served on the Editorial Advisory Board for Directions in Rehabilitation Counseling, a publication of The Hatherleigh Company, Ltd., as well as serving on various Editorial Boards and as a reviewer for various publishers including Aspen, Allyn and Bacon, SAGE, and Jones–Bartlett. He also has been called upon on multiple occassions as a Test Reviewer for The Mental Measurements Yearbook, which is an internationally recognized reference that is published by the Buros' Institute of Mental Measurement, University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

He was selected as a Prime Study Group member for the Institute on Rehabilitation Issues (funded by the Rehabilitation Services Administration, U.S. Department of Education) which addressed school–to–work and community transition of students with physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities.

Dr. Schneck has authored or co–authored an extensive number of articles, training manuals, book chapters, and research reports, as well as provided training workshops and presentations for professional organizations, agencies and programs at various locations throughout the United States.

He has been working since 2002 on establishing the first graduate certificate program, which focuses on the specialized practice of Forensic Vocational Rehabilitation, in the United States. The program was officially approved by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) System, Office of the Chancellor in early July, 2009, and began operation with the Fall Semester of the 2009-2010 academic year.
