Glen Peterson is a tenured Associate Professor who has been at Minnesota State since the Fall of 1997. Prior to coming to MSU he has had faculty appointments in Rehabilitation programs at Western Washington University and at the University of Texas–Pan American.
Before directing his career to rehabilitation education, Dr. Peterson worked for over 20 years in public, proprietary, and not–for–profit rehabilitation agencies. He has provided direct services (independent living skills training, vocational evaluation, rehabilitation counseling) to persons with disabilities, along with program management and administration experience.
Dr. Peterson's academic background includes earning the Ph.D. in Human Rehabilitation at the University of Northern Colorado (1996) and Master of Science degree in Vocational Rehabilitation at the University of Wisconsin–Stout (1976). His Bachelor's degree is in Psychology from San Jose State College (1969).
His research and scholarly interests include outcomes measurement (including consumer satisfaction), program evaluation, and multi–culturalism. Dr. Peterson was honored to be selected as a Switzer Scholar and to participate in the Annual Mary E. Switzer Memorial Seminar in East Lansing, Michigan in 2001.
In addition to his faculty responsibilities, Dr. Peterson is an active member in the National Rehabilitation Association and the Minnesota Rehabilitation Association (MRA). He is a recent Past–President of the National Rehabilitation Administration Association (2000) and is currently a member of the MRA Board of Directors. He is a member of the National Council on Rehabilitation Education, the National Rehabilitation Counseling Association, the National Rehabilitation Administration Association, the Job Placement and Development Division of NRA, and the National Association Multi–Cultural Rehabilitation Concerns.
Dr. Peterson currently serves as Associate Editor of the Journal of Rehabilitation Administration and as Co–Editor National Rehabilitation Administration Association's Newsletter. He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Applied Rehabilitation Counseling.
