Accelerated Program

Note: This program is for students who already have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.

Important Announcement:

Due to budgetary constraints, the School of Nursing has decided that students will not be admitted to the Accelerated Nursing Program in Fall 2010. The School of Nursing hopes to admit students in Fall 2011, but that decision will depend upon the state of the budget at that time. We know that this action is disappointing to many of you who are interested in our program. We will continue to admit students to the Basic Nursing Program in both Fall and Spring semesters. So application to that program could certainly be an option if you are interested. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Dr. Julia Hebenstreit, Accelerated Nursing Program Coordinator at julia.hebenstreit@mnsu.edu.

Accelerated Program (ANP)

Do you already have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college? Are you ready to commit to full time study over 15 consecutive months starting in late August? Then the ANP is for you!

Sixteen students are admitted every fall semester. Application deadline is early February. Most of the nursing courses are held in classrooms on campus. Some are offered as on–line or web–enhanced classes. Students are expected to travel to the Twin Cities as well as the Mankato area for exciting clinical experiences.

Minnesota State University, Mankato has offered this accelerated professional nursing program since 2003. Graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination–Registered Nurse (NCLEX–RN). Successfully passing this examination permits the graduate to practice as a registered nurse (RN). Graduates will have met the requirements for certification as public health nurses and licensure as school nurses in Minnesota.

Most of the nursing courses are held in classrooms on campus. Plans are being made to offer several courses at the Minnesota State University, Mankato extended campus located at 7700 France Avenue South in Edina, Minnesota.
