Post Masters DNP

Admission Process for Post-Nursing Masters DNP

Must have national APRN certification for Post-Nursing Masters DNP Program

  1. Prospective students apply to the College of Graduate Studies and Research send transcripts of completed masters and undergraduate degrees.  GRE scores will not be necessary for students with a masters degree.
  2. Prospective students apply to the School of Nursing: [PDF] complete graduate application form (121 KiB) , submit resume, copy of current RN license/APRN certification, and one reference from a nursing supervisor. Applicants may find it helpful to attend an informational meeting in January and provide a writing sample at that time.  Applications are usually due in mid January. Please email to learn about later submissions.
  3. Prospective students are evaluated along with other DNP applicants and may be invited for an interview. We continue to review applications for classes starting each fall until classes are filled--please email to learn more about current availability.
  4. Recent MSU graduates should email to learn if the post-Masters DNP application is necessary.
  5. There are usually two program options to consider when starting in fall: a plan to finish within 2.5 years, or a plan to finish within 3.5 years (shown here). The shorter plan basically collapses Year I and Year II so that 6 credits are taken each semester.
