MSU Student, Tracy DeVries, Receives 2008-09 Spirit of Nursing Award

Tracy DeVries, Minnesota State University student in the School of Nursing has received the Spirit of Nursing Award sponsored by the Army Nurse Corps, the National Student Nurses Association and the Nursing School. The award is in recognition of "academic excellence, leadership and commitment to the nursing profession". Congratulations, Tracy!

 


MSU's Tomorrow Magazine Highlights School of Nursing Research

Dr. karen willette-murphy showing an actigraphIn the Spring, 2007 issue of Minnesota State University's Tomorrow magazine, Professor of Nursing and member of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) faculty, Karen Willette–Murphy appears on the front page teaching a participant to use an 'actigraph', a small electronic device that records and stores information regarding activity and rest. When worn, it can detect such things as limb movement, circadian rhythms and sleep and activity patterns – a topic Dr. Willette–Murphy is researching. The School of Nursing has been in the forefront of research with dedicated faculty committed to the active pursuit of research opportunities.

School of Nursing Student Receives Award

Laura RunningenMSU School of Nursing student, Laura Runningen, has been awarded the 2007 Fall Semester Meredith Nursing Scholarship award. Laura, originally from Houston, MN, plans to do travel nursing for a few years after graduation and hopes to go back to school to be a Family Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Educator.

Couple Donates $375,000 Grant to Nursing

Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Educate 4 Out of Every 5 Nursing Graduates in Minnesota

By preparing 78 percent of Minnesota's new nursing graduates each year, the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system is addressing the need for new nurses in hospitals, clinics and nursing homes across the state. Support the system's seven state universities and 25 community and technical colleges.

Area Nurse Receives Award*

Pat Shortall, a graduate of the MSU, BS Completion program in 1995, was given this year's Nurse of the Year award.
