Mu Lambda Chapter, STTI - Strategic Plan 2007-2008

Based on STTI President Carol Picard's Call for Action and Strategic Directions

Vision: The vision of the Honor Society of Nursing, STTI is to create a global community of nurses who lead in using knowledge, scholarship, service, and learning to improve the health of the world's people.

Mission: The mission of the Honor Society of Nursing, STTI is to support the learning, knowledge, and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in health worldwide.

Core Values: 1) Knowledge, 2) Leadership, 3) Service, 4) Communities, and 5) Sustainability

Goal 1. Knowledge:
Advance the scientific base of nursing practice through the scholarship of research.
A. Continue the Annual Research Forum.
B. Encourage use of STTI sources of knowledge—journals, conferences, library
C. Continue honoring members with financial support for research projects.
Prepare and position nurses to lead in diverse, complex, health-related environments.
A. Initiate a leadership intern program—new member to work with Research Forum,
Induction, Membership.
B. Highlight the research program of nurse scientists.

 

Goal 2. Leadership:
Develop members across the span of their careers.
A. Develop methods to market membership to undergraduate and graduate students
and community leaders.
B. Utilize data from the member survey for areas of interest and expertise and match
them with corresponding chapter activities. Promote use of the VIProfile.
C. Increase the recruitment and retention of active Mu Lambda members.
D. Invite inactive members to reconnect with a STTI chapter
E. Create a plaque to be showcased in the Mu Lambda Room of Chapter Presidents
Build a strong chapter through collaborative leadership.
A. Evaluate program, meeting location, and meeting times for their
influence on attendance.
B. Position the Chapter to apply for a Chapter Key Award 2007-2009
C. Use technology to promote member connectedness.
D. Develop a chapter fact sheet about membership and activities; distribute to prospective members.
E. Maintain an informative web site attractive for member recruitment and keeping members updated and connected with resources.
F. Actively promote the archivist position in the Chapter.

 

Goal 3. Service:
Stimulate scholarly practice in the professional lives of members.
A. Partner with local nursing organizations and other chapters.
B. Support a local, regional, national, and international organization focused on improving the health of others through research, education, advocacy,
and leadership.
C. Raise public awareness of professional nursing throughout the region.
D. Highlight career profiles of selected Chapter members for Quest newsletter and web site.
(Begin with profiles of past president leaders and then include others)
E. Nominate members for leadership awards within the community and other nursing organizations.
F. Disseminate information about scholarly events and publicize scholarly achievements of members.

 

Goal 4. Communities:
Advance global linkages at the organizational and member levels.
A. Focus education programming on leadership, scholarship, and cultural
needs of the community.
B. Promote international connections through conferences, speakers,
consultants, and members’ exchange opportunities.
C. Promote diversity among the membership.

 

Goal 5. Sustainability:
Identify, secure, and use a variety of resources to ensure the organization’s future.
A. Develop a local fund raising plan each year.
B. Maintain sound financial and investment policies/procedures for the chapter.
C. Be familiar with STTI philanthropic opportunities and respond accordingly as a Chapter.
D. Be actively engaged in Vision 2020 for increasing STTI’s viability and active
presence in the nursing community.
E. Develop strategies to involve new members.
