Award amount: $500.00
Deadline for application: Summer each year until one month prior to the Research Forum or Winter each year until one month prior to Induction Ceremonies
Award Date: Fall Research Forum or Induction Ceremony

Criteria

  1. Current Mu Lambda member
  2. Engaged in scholarly activity* related to the advancement of nursing
    • Nursing research
    • Nursing practice
    • Nursing education or nursing service partnership
      1. *Scholarly activity is characterized by:
        1. Discipline: Systematic approach
        2. Great curiosity: inquisitiveness
        3. Creativity: innovativeness
  3. Willingness to report scholarly activity outcomes to Mu Lambda Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau International, via newsletter and/or chapter meeting.

Application Process

  1. Develop a 300–500 word abstract of your proposal which includes the following:
    • Problem, Goal Statement
    • Problem research questions or hypothesis
    • Purpose of scholarly activity to nursing knowledge, science; patient/consumer health care; scientific education of nurses
    • Methods and materials:
      1. Description of scholarly activity; design
      2. Definitions; variables; instruments; measures
      3. Data collection and data analysis plans
      4. Budget (examples: personnel, equipment, travel, other)
      5. Dissemination plans
      6. Appendix
        1. Reference letter(s)
        2. Data collection instruments
        3. Consent form
        4. Institutional Review Board Approval and any other institutional review committee approval(s)
        5. Time table for completion of scholarly activity
  2. Include resume or curriculum vitae (CV) for project director(s) / principal investigator(s) which include:
    • Name and Address
    • Telephone numbers (home and work)
    • Fax number (if available)
    • Email address (if available)
  3. Submit proposal and resume or CV to Chairperson of the Mu Lambda Research and Awards Committee or the Chapter President who will forward applications to the appropriate person.

Proposal Review Process

Proposals will be reviewed by the Mu Lambda Research and Awards Committee members.

Expectations of Scholar Grant Recipients

  1. Recipient(s) will submit a written progress report annually to the Chairperson of the MU Lambda Research and Awards Committee until the activity is completed.
  2. When scholarly activity is completed, project director(s) / principle investigator(s) will submit a full report of the findings to the chairperson of the Mu Lambda Research and Awards Committee.
  3. Recipient(s) will submit abstract to Mu Lambda Chapter for presentation of findings at the following Research Conference.
