Community invited to get behind-the-scenes look during Scholar Walk

College will feature tours, demonstrations and live simulations

Please join the College of Allied Health and Nursing as we open our doors to some the most innovative health and wellness educational spaces in the region on Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 10am – 3pm during the Scholar Walk.

The Scholar Walk, a self-guided tour of 26 stops across campus, is being held as part of the inauguration of Dr. Edward Inch, the University’s 13th president. This is a unique opportunity to explore the incredible research and learning being done on campus and across our College.

The event is free and open to the public. Participants may park in the Visitor's Lot (Lot 4) for free from 10am - 3pm. We hope to see you!


College of Allied Health and Nursing Scholar Walk Stops

Using Healthcare Simulation Pedagogy Demonstrations
Location: Clinical Sciences Building – 2nd Floor
Times: 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, 2:00
Drop by to see live simulations, every hour on the hour. Medical Surgical at 10am; Pediatrics at 11am; Obstetrics at 12pm; Medical Surgical at 1pm; Home Health at 2pm.

Anatomage Table and Diagnostic Ultrasound
Location: Clinical Sciences Building Rooms 250 & 251
Times: 10am–3pm
Explore the Anatomage Table, the most technologically advanced 3D anatomy visualization and virtual dissection tool for anatomy and physiology education. Next door, see the Diagnostic Imaging Ultrasound, which has the ability to image anatomic structures.

Audiology Lab Tour
Location: Clinical Sciences Building Room 156
Times: 10am–3pm
The Audiology Lab will highlight the video otoscopy equipment, hearing tests and the hearing aid and earmold section of the lab.

Dental Clinic
Location: Clinical Sciences Building Room 128
Times: 10am–12pm & 1–3pm
Visit the clinic to observe dental hygiene students providing services to patients from the community in the state-of-the-art facility.

Social Work Policy Briefs Demonstration
Location: Wissink Hall outside Room 345
Times: 10am–3pm
Explore policy briefs from the Master of Social
Work program. A mock public policy hearing for the Senate, where students deliver testimony on public policy, will also be running.

Social Work Interviewing Demonstration
Location: Wissink Hall Room 332
Times: 10am–3pm
Drop by to see interviewing practice and/or live interviews conducted by our Social Work students.

Food and Nutrition Lab and Food Science Lab Tour
Location: Wiecking Center Room B138
Times: 10am–3pm
The department of Family Consumer Science will host tours of the Food and Nutrition and the Food Science labs. Observe upgrades to the foods lab, which provides opportunities for students to discover their passion for food science.
