The Business of Sports

The Sport Management program at Minnesota State Mankato prepares students for the business of sports.

Current Students

Sport Tourism Class - Super Bowl (2017-2018)

Students in HP 490/590 Sport Tourism Super Bowl will be expected to volunteer in the Twin Cities for Super Bowl related events from approximately Jan 21-Feb 4, 2018.

Here is a couple of additional Super Bowl opportunities for our students:
1. One opportunity is to work for the NFL and Party Planners West for the 10 days preceding the Super Bowl. Students would have the opportunity to manage the 900 staff working at the 2018 Super Bowl Experience at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

2. Another opportunity (the flyer called “Sport Management College Students MN Flyer” - from SAFE Management) is unarmed event security for the 6 weeks preceding the Super Bowl. You are paid but will be working security.

Ryder Cup 2016

Students from Minnesota State Mankato's Sport Management program were among the 4,000+ volunteers working at the 2016 Ryder Cup. Using their new PGA mantra of "Greet, Assist, Thank," they learned a great deal about what it takes to successfully plan and orchestrate an international sporting event. "It was amazing to see it all come together," said graduate student Kassi Gall. "You could never experience that in a classroom."
