Community Health

Thesis Plan – 30 semester credits
Alternate Plan Paper – 34 semester credits

Graduate students choosing the Community Health Track must take the following courses:

  • HLTH 631–Seminar (03)
  • HLTH 665–History & Philosophy in Health Education (3)
  • HLTH 659–Health Care Administration (3)
  • HLTH 664–Health Program Planning & Evaluation (3)
  • HLTH 560–Intro to Epidemiology (3)
  • HLTH 575–Biostatistics (3)

Required Health Science and Related Electives (9–13 credits)

Any 500/600 level electives selected in consultation with an advisor.

Required Thesis

  • HLTH 699–Thesis (1–4 credits, minimum of 3)

Alternate Plan Paper is completed in HLTH 630 (Fall) and HLTH 631 (Spring) which should be taken during the student's last year of coursework.

Alcohol and Drug Studies

The Master of Science in Health Science: Community Health with an emphasis in Alcohol and Drug Studies consists of an individualized curriculum designed by the student in consultation with his or her graduate advisor. Prior to registering for courses in the Alcohol and Drug Studies Program, students should meet with the Coordinator of the Alcohol and Drug Studies Program to apply to the program and discuss curriculum options.
