Alcohol and Drug Studies Program

On behalf of the Minnesota State University, Mankato, Health Science Department, we appreciate your interest in the Alcohol and Drug Studies Program. Upon completion of all academic and practical experiences of the major, students are eligible to apply for certification at the counselor level from the Minnesota Certification Board and eligible to pursue licensure as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor through the State of Minnesota's Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy.

Due to the ever increasing awareness of the needs of persons experiencing alcohol and drug problems, many employment opportunities exist for alcohol and drug professionals. As a credentialed professional, you will be qualified for many career opportunities in the field.

An undergraduate major and minor are offered in Alcohol and Drug Studies. If you already have an undergraduate degree, you may pursue Alcohol and Drug Studies coursework at the graduate level and receive a Master's Degree in Community Health with an emphasis in Alcohol and Drug Studies.
