Family Consumer Science
Welcome to the Department of Family Consumer Science! I am proud to serve as the current department chair. Over the years that I have taught in the department, I have met many students who share my enthusiasm for Family Consumer Science. The common desire that many of our FCS majors have is to work with individuals, families, or children in order to better their lives; whether it’s through a career in Family Consumer Science Education as a middle or high school FACS educator, advocating for children and families in Child Development & Family Studies area, supporting people to make sound financial decisions through the Consumer Studies minor, and pursuing work as a dietitian or wellness coach through a major in Dietetics or Food & Nutrition areas.
The Department of Family Consumer Science encourages students to understand complex interactions such as healthy eating and living on a budget, providing parents with strategies to promote resilient families, and gain experience in food preparation and planning in order to understand the science of food. We are pleased to have you part of our department!
