Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene

Our program is one of three dental hygiene programs in Minnesota to offer a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. Having a Bachelor Degree in Dental Hygiene will provide more options for job opportunities in the future

Our dental hygiene curriculum is designed to provide opportunities for a student to develop a sound clinical and theoretical foundation for the practice of dental hygiene.

Our graduates are prepared to fulfill the dental hygiene roles as clinician, change agent, educator, researcher, and consumer advocate as put forth by the American Dental Hygienists' Association.

Our students are also trained to place fillings, which is not typically offered at 2-year institutions.

The Dental Hygiene Program is approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) -

Technology and Simulation

Our new simulation lab offers state-of-the-art training for students.

In the clinic, technology includes 100% computer-based patient charts, digital x-rays, and intraoral cameras.

In addition to training in the on-campus clinic, students in our program have the opportunities to work in the community, proving oral health care services in nursing homes, schools, and the community dental clinic.

How many students get into the program each year?

We accept 20 students each year.  Applications are due in the spring and accepted students will start the following fall.  Applicants GPA is important and there is special emphasis placed on the GPA of the science and dental hygiene pre-requisite courses.
