H Sheen Chiou, Ph.D. CCC-SLP

Dr. Chiou's research areas include language and cognitive communication disorders in adults with neurogenic diseases including aphasia, cognitive-linguistic communication disorders, traumatic brain injury, dementia and primary progressive aphasia.

 

Her current research projects include:

  • Developing and exploring patient-reported outcome measures for people with aphasia
  • Exploring and explaining relationships between cognition and aphasia
  • Examing carepartner's perspectives for aphasia
  • Implementing supported conversation model in group and individual therapy for people with aphasia
  • Conducting single-subject design experiment with a variety of language and cognitive-linguistic therapeutic approaches for people with brain injuries due to stroke, traumatic brain injury, dementia and other neurogenic disorders
